Hooded Merganser (Drake) ©

Half of the small pond was frozen and the Hooded Merganser couple could only access the other half. Certainly was easier & closer to photograph them. But on the other hand it was sunny but cold, the temperature was 29ºF (-2ºC) with 6 mph winds. To get a low POV, I had to get to edge of the pond, behind some dry grass & lay low getting my pants wet & cold.
