Have had this for over two years now.
Secret to longevity is wintering. Keep in a cool place. An unheated sunporch is ideal, where it gets any heat from neighboring rooms, just as long as the room stays above freezing. I have no such room, so I keep it in the 'fridge. Other times when it's not too cold outside, I keep it outdoors, in an enclosed, empty aquarium. Repot in a "soil-less" potting mix of peat and perlite, and keep soil where it is warmed by the sun. Keep damp at all times.
