Common Bird's Nest - Crucibulum laeve 1
Growing on woodchips in a shrubbery at a garden centre near Sheffield, 29/10/10. This is our second record for Sorby Fungus Group. I found another record whilst trawling for fungi records through all the back issues of the Sorby Newsletter. It was recorded by D. Parkin and G. Fearn at Chatsworth on Oct 3, 1976.
Young receptacles covered bt the yellow-brown operculum (lid or membrane). This ruptures when the fungus matures.
