Cardinal Dad
Cardinals were everywhere this spring, and whenever we were on the porch, one pair seemed very interested in us. We found out why when we noticed a nest in a bush beside the the porch -- they were they were parents! Being so close to the nursery, I was able to get photos of dad on watch duty, the three chicks in their nest, and mom keeping a close eye on them. Though they looked tiny and young, I realized they were older than they looked when one of them stood flapping its wings. Turns out we were lucky to catch them as the next day the were gone!
