L'Isola Comacina - The Comacina Island
L'isola Comacina è un lembo di terra (lunghezza 600 m, larghezza 200 m, perimetro 2 km, superficie 7,5 ettari) circondato dal Lago di Como.
È situata nel comune di Tremezzina, in corrispondenza dell'insenatura della costa occidentale del ramo comasco fra Argegno e la penisola di Lavedo,
Oltre alle poche costruzioni recenti, l'unico edificio ancora integro è la chiesetta barocca di San Giovanni che contiene al suo interno resti di murature romane e tardoromane, parte di fondazioni di una cappella romanica e resti di un battistero (mosaico) del V secolo.
Sull’isola si possono individuare anche i resti di altre chiese del XI/XII secolo.

The Comacina island is a strip of land (length 600 m, width 200 m, perimeter 2 km, surface 7.5 hectares) surrounded by Lake Como (northern Italy).
It is located in the municipality of Tremezzina, at the inlet of the western coast of the Como branch between Argegno and the Lavedo peninsula,
In addition to the few recent buildings, the only building still intact is the Baroque church of San Giovanni which contains the remains of Roman and late Roman walls, part of the foundations of a Romanesque chapel and the remains of a baptistery (mosaic) of the fifth century.
The remains of other 11th / 12th century churches can also be found on the island.
