One of the most viewed, recommended and relevant UP Big Boy train photos on Flickr! Union Pacific Big Boy 4014; the world's largest, heaviest and most powerful steam locomotive, is now fully restored to operation! This was the third portion of the return trip to Cheyenne after the 150th Anniversary Celebration. UP 4014 and 844 cruise across the flat lands of southern Wyoming! The 4014 also had a derailment in Rawlins the day I posted this photo.
It was said for years that this was impossible. It's too big, too impractical, too expensive, too heavy, etc. Now we have our answer; it IS possible!
One question remains; Can the 4014 dethrone the Flying Scotsman in popularity? Only time will tell. :)
