Class 506

A class 506 EMU with power car M59402M leading enters Manchester Piccadilly in November 1966. The train carries an all over green livery, a yellow panel, and a BR "ferret and dartboard" carriage transfer.

Obviously, when delivered they would have carried BR's "mono-cycling lion" crest, and they wouldn't have had a yellow panel; and I THINK they were painted a lighter shade of green - I first saw one in about 1957, and my recollection is that the green was lighter than that shown above (this is BR Brunswick Green as used for locos, or something similar)
