Col du Galibier
During the 2009 Marmotte cyclosportif, the climb up the Col du Galibier was enlivened by the sounds of thunder from down the valley. When I reached the col I took this shot of where I had just come. You can make out the road as it disappears into the distance. On it was a continuous line of slow moving cyclists. The skies above were looking ominous. When there was clap of thunder from overhead, I decided that the top of climb was not the best place to be. I then set off on the bumpy 42km descent to Alpe d'Huez.
