Close Encounter With A Stunned Mouse
I was taking a breath of fresh air at work when I spotted this little chap. It was lying in the footpath looking distinctly dead. However when I came back it was clearly breathing but rather stunned. It had either had a close encounter with a cat or more likely a bird. By the time I had fetched a camera it was starting to move a bit. After a few quick shots I though I had better leave it alone as it had a stressful few minutes. It was very small - the body was less than 2inches (5cm) long. The whiskers are huge in relation to its body. This was taken with my Ricoh's macro mode.
Not too sure which variety of mouse it is. It size suggests a harvest mouse but everything else suggests a very small wood mouse.
This is a different view of it.
