Blessed Ignatius Kłopotowski

Feast: September 7

Blessed Fr. Ignatius Kłopotowski was born July 20, 1866 in Korzeniówka near Drohiczyn. From his youngest years he felt a vocation to the priesthood. In 1891, after finishing the Theological Seminary in Lublin as well as the Theological Academy in Petersburg, he received Holy Orders. Throughout his whole life he thanked God for the grace of a vocation and following the example of Christ he dedicated all his talents and energy to serving the poor, the sick, orphans and the spiritually lost. He preached the Gospel through the written word, first in Lublin and later beginning in the year 1908 in Warsaw. He founded and edited various publications: "Polak-Katolik" - The Polish Catholic, "Posiew" - The Seed, "Dobra Służąca" - The Good Servant, "Anioł Stróż" - The Guardian Angel, "Kółko Różańcowe" - The Rosary Circle, "Głos Kapłański" - The Priestly Voice. He was noted for his great love of the Eucharist and the many hours he spent before the Most Blessed Sacrament. He had a strong devotion to Mary and preached her glory, propagating the rosary.

In the year 1920, he founded the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Loreto entrusting to their care the work of printing the Divine Word and helping in the apostolic mission of the Church.

He died September 7, 1931 in Warsaw. His relics rest in the shrine of Our Lady of Loreto in Loretto near Wyszków. He was beatified June 19, 2005 in Warsaw, Poland.

Prayer through the intercession of Bl. Fr. Ignatius Kłopotowski

O God, who breathed into the heart

of blessed Ignatius a great love of the

Incarnate Word and His Virgin Mother,

awakening in him the desire to

build Your kingdom through zealous

imitation of Christ's love for the

poor and neglected, and made him

an apostle of the press and catholic

publishing - look upon our humble

plea and grant through his intercession

that we might give ourselves

completely and with joy to the work

of the world's salvation.

Eternal Father, infinitely good,

through the powerful intercession of

blessed Ignatius, grant me assistance

in the needs, which I entrust to You

this day. Through Christ Our Lord.

Amen.
