"Happy 100th Birthday, Dr. Seuss!" Quilt - 2004

His whimsical creatures thrill kids of all ages.

Horton, the Grinch, and the Cat fill his pages.

Most kids and adults love the stories he’s built.

Now it’s time that we celebrate that in a quilt!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

I created this fun and unique Cat in the Hat quilt to celebrate the 100 year birthday of Dr. Seuss (Ted Geisel, born 2 March 1904) and his contributions to American literature to make reading fun and accessible to kids of all ages. Donated to benefit the Reach Out and Read program at Inova Fairfax (VA) Hospital for Children, which makes new books and love of reading an important part of healthy childhood for low-income children in Fairfax County VA. Handquilted and 100% cotton so washable too (mild detergent). Completed 24 Feb. 2004. Quilts warm the body . . . and the soul! I hope you enjoy your quilt as much as I enjoyed creating it!
