Beach morning glory near the Adyar estuary

 

I like to see and photograph the wildflowers that grow aplenty here, during my birding trips. This one is a common vine in the beaches around where I live. The flowers bloom during October - December and the whole area is lit up by these purple gems!

 

A native species, there are references to this plant in some poems as old as the 10th-4th cent. BC!
