Side trip

On the first day of hiking the Routeburn, while it didn't rain on us, we didn't have clear views like we did on the second. I loved the low clouds anyway. Plus, this is typical of hiking in Fjordland! People were complaining about not seeing the views. I was happy we didn't get soaked.

 

This was along a side hike up to a lookout. By the time I got to the lookout, I was surrounded by low cloud, so couldn't see the view of a lake and part of the valley that we would see the next day.
