Sunbeams through Mesa Arch

Mesa Arch was quite the learning experience for me. I knew we wanted to be there at sunrise to get the glow underneath the arch. Other than that, I wasn't quite sure what kind of comp I wanted. Thankfully, the glow lasts for quite a while, and most everyone danced politely around each other working on different comps.

Thanks again to Miles, who told me exactly where the sun would rise (but that's another episode).

Mesa Arch is not a particularly far hike from the parking lot (although the trail is rough enough that you need a headlamp or flashlight to get there before dawn). As we returned to the car, a couple drove up in their van: the guy got out to smoke, the gal got out to take a picture of the interpretive sign...and off they went. I guess that's one way to see the sights at our National Parks.
