Elfin Lakes overnight
Elfin Lakes has a great shelter. Heated, solar-powered lights, stove and pots, sleeps 33 upstairs, many drying hooks, etc. Our group of 3 had the place to ourselves last Friday night. Naturally, Glenn decides to sleep outside and tested out his winter stuff. After having the clouds thicken and block most of sunset, it was lovely to have them move along. Leaving us a clear night and a crisp blue morning.
His tent is on one of the newly-constructed pads near the lake. The Mamquam area mountains are to the East. I'm guessing the glow is due to the light noise created by Vancouver, which is about an hour drive plus 3 hours hike away. It was -12 at night with very little snow.
Based on the number of hikers we passed on the way out, it looked like Saturday night would be much less quiet - around 25 people with overnight gear.
