Khaatumo State of Somalia is a newly formed semi-autonomous state located in northeastern Somalia. It was formed after a grand conference was held in Taleh district of Sool region in December of last year 2011. The conference was partaken by representatives from Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions. The delegates to the conference at Taleh district were composed of traditional leaders, community elders, civil society, diaspora and former top Somalia government officials who hail from this region. This move was a slap in the face to the so called Somaliland which is a tiny administration based in the Somali city of Hargeisa,which wants to be a separate country from Somalia.
