North Adelaide St Peter's Cathedral

St Hilda of Whitby (614-680), founder of Whitby Abbey, venue of Synod of Whitby. Nave window created by Charles Kempe & Co of London, given by children of the Catechism, unveiled 13 Feb 1910.

“a beautiful stained glass window was unveiled and dedicated in St. Peter's Cathedral by the Rev. Canon Wise. The work was accomplished through the efforts and subscriptions of the children attending the catechism classes. . . the window represented St. Hilda, a princess, daughter of the King of Northumbria, and foundress of Whitby Abbey, Yorkshire. She was a vigorous worker for the church, and as a result of her endeavors there were five bishops trained in the abbey. . . St. Hilda died in the year 680.” [Adelaide 14 Feb 1910]
