Church foundation stone 26 Apr 1885 by Dr Lanigan, Bishop of Goulburn, architects Toppin, Gilbert & Dennehy, of Melbourne, nave opened 1 Oct 1887 as St Michael’s church, named cathedral when Wagga Wagga diocese formed 1918, extensions foundation stone 7 May 1922, architect W J Monks, re-opened 22 Mar 1925. First church foundation stone 27 Sep 1858 by Father McAlroy, opened 4 Dec 1859, became part of school when new church opened 1885.
