Colonel Light Gardens Trinity Lutheran church

Foundation stone 11 Nov 1951 by Rev C E Hoopman, opened 4 Apr 1954, replaced 1982 by new church at Pasadena. Previous 20 years services were in Colonel Light Gardens Institute.

 

“About a dozen parishioners of the new Colonel Light Gardens .Lutheran Church were giving their spare time to work on the building, the secretary of the Lutheran Church (Rev. C. E. Zweck) said yesterday. So that the men could give all their spare time to the building their wives had volunteered to do their gardening and odd jobs for them.” [Advertiser 15 Dec 1951]

 

“The stone church- was built almost entirely by voluntary labor and took more than four years to complete. It is of a simple design has white walls and light blue rafters.” [Advertiser 5 Apr 1954]
