Currency Creek Wesleyan Methodist church
Foundation stone 19 Mar 1868 by Miss Fidock, bluestone & ironstone, Methodist after Union 1900, closed 1943 when it became unsafe (services then in Institute hall), sold 1963. Bell in Goolwa Museum.
“For a considerable time we have sorely felt the need of a Wesleyan Church in our neighborhood, but our indefatigable minister, Rev. C. T. Newman, has only lately been able to secure an eligible site and surmount preliminary difficulties. . . In the evening a tea meeting was held in the schoolroom, after which a public meeting, presided over by that faithful friend to the cause Captain George Johnston, of Goolwa.” [Southern Argus 28 Mar 1868]
