Dutton Congregational church
Foundation stone 25 Nov 1879 by Christina, daughter of Thomas Scott who donated the land, opened 9 Mar 1879, closed Dec 1958 & sold 1978. First services had been held in the St John’s Lutheran church.
“Rev. W. Newbould upon assuming the pastorate of the Truro Congregational Church arranged to hold fortnightly services at Dutton. The only place of worship then in the township was the German Church, the members of which evinced a friendly and generous disposition by placing their church at the disposal of their English neighbours. Considering the small number of English people in the neighbourhood, the services have been well attended, and it was not long after their establishment that the possibility of erecting a place of worship in the township was mooted.” [Kapunda Herald 18 Mar 1879]
“The site of the proposed church is at the north-east corner of the township. . . The land on which the church is built is the generous gift of Thomas Scott, Esq., J.P., of Paddy's Plains, near Dutton,” [Kapunda Herald 3 Dec 1878]
