Plaque of the Articles of Condederation

This was the original Constitution drafted in 1776 by the Continental Congress. The Articles were so loose in their wording that the states were actually considered totally seperate entities and it was only "suggested" that they send troops to help with the Revolution, send money to pay for the army and send supplies to help feed and maintain the army. Some states opted out of sending the necessary aid which led to hard times for the army such as the harsh winter at Valley Forge.
