Exercise 2.6: Sultan's Lantern

Week 2, exercise 6. The more I use the Inktense pencils, the more I enjoy them. The rich, intense colors fit right into my love of exotic flora and fauna.

This is another example of re-imagination: The "flower" is actually a species of moss. I've no idea of its real color, but I that freed me to use my imagination. Its spherical shape reminded me of a minaret and the teardrop-shaped center seemed to make a perfect flame.

I may dress up the flower's interior with a wash of Daler-Rowney pearlescent inks, but pearlescents and metallics don't scan well, and I need to move on to another exercise anyway, so that will have to wait for later.
