The Conjuring House
This historical farmhouse (pictured below) located in the village of Harrisville (within the town of Burrillville), Rhode Island is reputed to be a haunted house with intense paranormal activity. Built in 1736, the property has a dark past involving suicides and other tragic deaths, although some historians claim this is more folklore than fact. The farmhouse gained international fame as the real-life inspiration for the 2013 horror film, "The Conjuring" which is often cited as one of the scariest movies of all time.
The actual filming took place Currie, North Carolina for exterior shots while the main interiors were studio-built sets. The movie focuses on the real life Perron family which lived at the RI farmhouse during the 1970s and reported to have experienced a prolonged haunting that included disembodied voices, strange smells, moving objects and apparitions.
Overall, "The Conjuring" is only loosely based on what the Perrons allegedly experienced. One notable difference is there was no exorcism performed as portrayed in the film.
Between 2019 and 2024, The Conjuring House was open to the public for tours and even overnight stays. In late 2024, however the entire staff resigned and by early the 2025 the business was permanently closed due to legal and financial reasons. In addition, the mental health of the owner was called into question. The future of the property remains uncertain. Over the last couple of months, YouTuber, Elton Castee and Jason Hawes (Ghost Hunters) have been jockeying to purchase the property, with Hawes being the leading candidate.
At one point while operating the drone near the farmhouse, signal was completely lost and I had to unplug the cable and plug it back into the RC to re-established a connection. This is a rare occurrence and the first with my current setup. I'll chalk this up to a coincidence...yet I was reluctant to fly the drone near the property afterwards.
