Offering water to prairie rattlesnakes

Offering thirsty prairie rattlesnakes water at an Alberta den site. These snakes eagerly surfaced from their hibernaculum once my friend Sheri started spraying water at the threshold to the den's entrance. Alberta has been suffering from a drought for months and Sheri suspected some would take advantage of the precious water despite it being dispensed by a human!
