Life rising - selective color.

Searching through my unposted pictures, planning out my week... when I found this one that has been sitting (edited!) in my files for months.

It's the perfect picture for Easter, and a metaphor found in the spring festivals of cultures around the world. Life, returning green and glorious after the long darkness of winter. Even though the photo was taken late last summer, the same theme runs through it... as this is grass springing forth from a barren rock after the long and unusual drought we suffered last summer.

This is the first time I've tried selective color, and it really worked well with the "life" theme I was going for. The grasses 'pop' against the lifeless rock.
