Thus far this has been an exceptionally exciting day, "CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE.." Went to The Olde Ship to watch the Europa League final - Chelsea vs Benfica. It was a cracker of a match! The pints were being served, the signing and chanting were underway. Fernando Torres scored well composed goal that sent The Ship into a wild frenzy of chanting. Then we made a mistake in the box which allowed Benfica to level up with a penalty. Just as it looked like we'd be going into extra time a corner kick was awarded to Chelsea. Juan Mata connected well with Branislav Ivanovic who put in a perfectly timed header and put us up 2-1. We went mental at that point. As the final minute and seconds rolled by in slow motion, there were some tense and nail biting ticks of the clock. In the end, Chelsea's win puts us in an elite group of teams to have won three UEFA major cups. Chelsea are CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE...EUROPA LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!
