Remembering Those Sour Notes

Remembering those sour notes

When we couldn't quite harmonize

Calling those harsh, discordant sounds

Our sad attempt at music

But sometimes I think that was the best,

It was ugly but at least it was true

It was when we looked through the cracks

In our masks, in our music

And saw we would never last

Let me love or let me die

For what is life but love

Stretched across the wooden frame

Of time and space

Love is the canvas

On which we paint

Our world

Scatter salt on these darkened fields

Around that sullen moon

Full and sallow in the fallow skies,

The world does not bloom there

Only the salty stars glitter

The unwept tears of angels
