Meteor Crater Panorama

[Hi-resolution panorama: Click "Actions/Show all sizes/Original sizes" for full resolution]

Panorama of the interior of Barringer Crater from the viewing platform directly outside the museum.

The original sedimentary layering of the pre-impact surface is pretty much intact, although uplifted and folded over at the very top. Large blocks of sedimentary rocks can be seen in the near parts of the rim at the edges of the panorama. Notice the flat bowl shape of the crater. Much of the crater held a lake or marsh during wetter periods.
