Duck on rock John McLaren Park – San Francisco 20250707-163016
I made this photo of a duck on a rock as Melody and I were strolling around the Upper Reservoir Lake during our walk through John McLaren Park in early July 2025. We often walk this park and like to see the ducks and turtles enjoying themselves in one of its lakes, remembering back to 2023 when we followed a mother duck in her attempt to raise he brood which, over the period of a few weeks, was culled from 13 to 2 – probably due to various predators. This particular duck, Probably a female mallard, seemed particularly relaxed sitting on a warm rock at the water's edge of the lake. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX50.
