Blood Moon solar eclipse early in progress Mar 13, 2025 20250313-212254
I made this photo of the beginning of the eclipse of the Blood Moon about half past nine the night of March 13, 2025 from the backyard of our San Francisco home. I had gone out earlier and the moon was brilliantly clear but hidden by the houses on the horizon. I should probably walked or driven up the hill to see the entire moon; or, just shot the top of it from my yard. You can barely see the craters on this cloudy image that was awaiting me later as the eclipse was starting to darken the bottom of the moon. When I went out an hour or so later, the moon was hidden in the sky. I shot this hand held using my Canon Powershot SX50. It was my only shot of the night.
