Fire escape on outside of Nob Hill multiple unit brick building San Francisco 20210721-113748
I made this and the previous photo of a typical brick building in San Francisco. This one happens to be in the posh Nob Hill District. Fifty or sixty years ago, brick buildings like this were retrofitted against failure in case of earthquakes. All San Francisco multiple unit, multiple story building have fire escapes; probably a throwback to the 1906 earthquake and fire when the earthquake was devastating but the fire was the destroyer. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX50.
