Waxing Crescent Moon over San Francisco 1.27 visible moon age 1.06 days Blurred due to one second exosure 20210414-193527
I made this and the following photo of the Waxing Crescent Moon over San Francisco after dropping letters at the post office just before their 8:30 closing time. This first attempt at photographing a moon that was only 1.27 visible ending up very blurry. Even though I had my camera set on spot focus, the camera shot that image at 1 second. Not a good idea to let the camera decide settings with so little light surrounded by so much black. In the image in the following slide, I used manual settings with speed at 1/125 second. Not great, but looking more like a slice of moon. I shot both using my Canon Powershot SX50.
