Morris Louis 1961 Number 11 painting with floral arrangement by Phoebe Kahl and Diana Kennedy Orinda Garden Club deYoung Museum 2015 Bouquets to Art San Francisco's Golden Gate Park 20150415-105444 C4

Bouquets to Art is an annual floral exhibition hosted by the deYoung Museum in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park where florists, designers and garden clubs are invited to present floral interpretations of works in the museum's permanent collections. The floral displays are presented in juxtaposition with the works that inspired them and I have tried to do the same when photographing at the nearly week long event, including the floral arrangement and the interpreted art work in the same image. Not always an easy task. In this image of the floral arrangement by Phoebe Kahl and Diana Kennedy's interpretation of a 1961 Morris Louis painting named Number 11, I needed to clone out a visitor that was to the right of the photo in order to present the art and floral arrangement as the only subjects of the photo shot using my Canon Powershot SX50.
