I made this photo on May 30, 2010 at Golden Gate National Cemetery military cemetery in San Bruno California. This is a view from the north with the main flag at the top middle of the photo. In the United States, Memorial Day is May 31. It is a national holiday observed on the last Monday of May, if May 31 does not fall on a Monday. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX20 that I was using in 2010. A cemetery worker told me various organizations place over 100,000 flags each year for Memorial Day.
