Mrs. Lucy Spector and Melody Chan Doss-Wambeke October 28, 2015 Image # 20151028-141633 C4
I made this photo of Mrs. Lucy Spector and my wife Melody during a visit to Lucy's home in Hillsborough California, a posh community about 15 minutes south of San Francisco. Mrs. Spector and her husband founded Britex Fabrics on San Francisco's Union Square in 1952. Melody worked there for 35 years, retiring in early 2015 - 10 months before this photo. Melody considered Mrs. Spector as a second mother. Though she was Melody's employer, Mrs. Spector was also Melody's mentor and friend. I got away with calling Mrs. Spector by her first name but I only heard Melody refer to Lucy as Mrs. This photo was taken three days before Lucy's 92nd birthday.
I post this photo on July 19, 2017 - GMT - as a tribute and in memory of this great lady who passed from this world on July 1, 2017. She was an inspiration and leader to many people throughout her long career running Britex Fabrics. She was a gracious lady, a caring human being, a shrewd business woman, and will be missed by all who knew her.
