Late in June 2017, Melody and I made a trip to Oakland, a city right across the bay from San Francisco. We decided to take public transportation rather than drive. Consequently, our excursion exposed us to people, places, and things not seen from the isolation of an automobile. Since we were early for our appointment and had no time constraints to get back home, we had a chance to walk some of the streets of Downtown Oakland. This is a photo of the Mentone Arms Apartments seen from the back. The weathered look of the building and the numerous stairs caught my attention.
