Archer Terracotta Warriors 20130414-131305 C4Cre2
This is a photo of the front of the life sized Terracotta Warrior Archer sculpture the was on exhibit at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco between Feb 22 and May 27, 2013. The exhibit was named China's Terracotta Warriors The First Emperor's Legacy. This is one of over 7,000 figures created by Qin Shihuang - 259 - 210 BCE - that were first unearthed in 1974. The pit containing the figures and weapons must be view from walkways high above the figures when viewing them in China. Here we were within feet of the actual sculptures - almost within touching distance. A real treat. I was using my Canon EOS 60D the day I took this and the back of the Archer shown in the previous Flickr slide.
