The top figure of the three person Why Group in Living Memorial Sculpture Garden outside Weed in northern California 20111015-085846 C4
The Why? Group. In the center of the chaos of war, a figure rushes to catch a falling comrade, while high above, another figure pleas to the heavens. "Why?".
This is the figure at the top of the three persons Why Group crafted by sculptor Dennis Smith and placed in the Living Memorial Sculpture Garden - LMSG - along with several others of Smith's depictions of the consequences of war. Why Group is a gigantic sculpture - at least twice life size. Consequently this LMSG sculpture is difficult to photograph up close. This photo shows the top figure who, supposedly, is pleading to the heavens for a fallen comrade that one of the figures below is bending over to help. This photograph of the Top figure of the Why Group was taken mid morning on October 15, 2011 with my Canon Powershot SX30.
