Full super moon over San Francisco December 3, 2017 20171203-195202 C4
This and the previous image were two of several I made of a Super Moon full over San Francisco on the evening of December 3, 2017. Melody and I saw this moon as we were ascending a hill two blocks away from our home while returning from a trip out and about grocery shopping. After we took the groceries upstairs and started to warm some homemade soup for dinner. Melody guessed I wanted to photograph this unusually large moon and told me to go ahead and photograph it. I did and this was the result. I tried several setting, first using very high speeds but settled on this and the next shot at 1/320 and 1/250 seconds using my Canon Powershot SX50. Since it is so close to earth, this super moon appears 14 times larger than when farther from earth. This is pretty much how the image looks in the camera - none or just slight cropping for this final image.
