Mono Lake Landscape looking west from June Lake Loop 20110925-155100 C4
Looking at the time information on my digital negatives, I imagine I captured this image looking west or northwest from the June Lake Loop area, a bit south of the town of Lee Vining and Mono Lake. June Lake Loop is one of the recommended tourist sights in the eastern California area in proximity to Mono Lake. I don't remember encountering much snow during our three or four day trip spanning the State of California from its Western border in San Francisco to nearly its Eastern border at Mono Lake. I know it was very near freezing the last morning of our stay when we arrived at the Lake before sunrise. However, the image speaks for itself. Looks like snow to me. Captured with Canon EOS 60D at about 200 mm (35 equivalent) - so this mountain was quite a distance from capture location. Another surprise and even more example of the diversity of the landscape of Eastern California beyond the mountains of Yosemite National Park.
