Mono Lake Grasses Tufas Mountains Snow Eastern California 20110926-071816 C4

Captured this image the last day my photography friend, Anita, and I were in the Mono Lake area to see the sights and take pictures. Thank you digital cameras. Surely does cut down on the expense of capturing images - and much more immediate than film.

Though you cannot see water in this image, Mono Lake is just out of sight to the right. You can see a row of Tufas stretching all across the middle of the photo. They look smaller than they really are as evidenced in the previous slide. Most of limestone towers used to be underwater in Mono Lake, but due to the lowering of the water level, many jut out of waters of the lake as well as show in fine glory on dry land and marshes.

This image of wetlands, tufas, and mountains was captured mid morning of our last day just before we headed west over Tioga Pass, and back through Yosemite for the 300 mile trek back to San Francisco.
