The Desert Smells Like Sagebrush information sign Mono Lake eastern California 20110925-131727 C4B

The Desert Smells Like Sagebrush was one third of the information bits of the larger information sign titled Essence of the Great Basin. The Great Basin covers 10,000 Square miles (26,000 square kilometers) one edge being the Mono Lake area and covering states of California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Oregon and NW tip of Arizona. The information about areas referred to in this and other signs are in the Mono Lake slides preceding and following this one. In a couple of them you will see sagebrush thick into the horizon with a strip where it had been burned bare by ground fire.
