Landscape from Panum Crater Trail near Mono Lake Eastern California 20110925-163139 C4

Craters are another diversity of the Mono Lake area landscape. As with most other volcanic areas, the rocks can be jagged and sharp - places to wear protective clothing and footwear. This venture up to one of the more accessible craters was a tiring affair after an already full day of excursions. We never did actually see the inside of the crater. This image capture of a bit of the crater landscape is the last in this short and incomplete series of crater photos. You can see how inhospitable this area was. We did not venture off the trail and decided we had had enough crater adventure at this point.
