Rainbow over Mono Lake taken from Lee Vining California 20110925-181040C4B
On the evening before our last day visiting Mono Lake near Lee Vining California, it rained on and off in the late afternoon and evening during our photography outing. We stopped in various places between the shores of Mono Lake and the town of Lee Vining trying to capture images of rain clouds and rainbows. This image was captured 7 minutes before the following Double Rainbow slide - which is one of my favorite Rainbow shots - probably taken after we returned to town for the night. Although we may refer to these as double rainbows, the invert spectrum to the left is a secondary rainbow. We got a bit wet the evening of this shot but it was worth it and we were able to keep our cameras fairly dry.
