Full Moon 20141007-203252 C4
Captured this image at 8:30 PM the evening before the full moon. Close enough for me and it was foggy the next night. Shooting the moon is much easier using my Canon Powershot SX50. My method of capturing moon images is to extend to the maximum focal length - in this case 1,200 mm. - and manually set the exposure. Because of the long focal length, the minimum aperture is 6.5 - no matter because we are not looking for depth of field for this lunar subject. The speed setting depends on the bright portion of the moon. Sometimes I shoot as low as 1/160 of a second. This exposure was at 1/1250 second. Image stabilization also helps as I always capture moon shots hand held. I shot this from the parking lot of a warehouse store before I getting in my car to head home.
