So, we decided to build a "skunkworks" Metrofiets for the 2009 Oregon Manifest and race it for 77 miles.
Everything else was exactly what a customer should expect to get on a Metrofiets. King bling, internal 8 speed, dyno hub, front an rear dyno powered lights etc. ... except
We wanted to try out some new ideas (lighter, less stiff etc.) and punish it on the Rapha designed course.
Amazing Results!
We finished the race (first in CAT3 for the race) and were awarded 7th place out of 31 for design.
Not bad for a city bike that weighed three times that of the other entries, was twice as long and carried TWO cases of beer, a six pack, a change of cloths and dinner to the finish line.
