Sub-Zero
"FINISH HIM!"
As part of their entry into Shang Tsung's infamous Mortal Kombat tournament, Chinese lin kuei Bi Han takes the codename Sub-Zero and enters the tournament. Winning is secondary, however: Sub-Zero's there to assassinate Shang Tsung and take his vast wealth for the lin kuei. Unfortunately for him, he's found out and killed by Scorpion, but it's hard to keep a good ice-throwing lin kuei down...
Sub-Zero was one of the initial batch of characters for the original Mortal Kombat game, and one of only three to appear in every one of the dizzying amount of MK titles out there. His blue and black outfit became iconic, as well as his ability to blast ice at opponents, and freeze the ground beneath them. Sub-Zero had the most controversial of the famous MK "fatalities"--he would tear the spine out of his fallen enemies, complete with blood and gore. That was a bit too much for 1992, and the fatality was often censored. Later games included it in all its terrifying glory, however.
Though I'm terrible at Mortal Kombat, Sub-Zero was my favorite character, along with Sonya and later Shiva. I saw this Sub-Zero stalking Artists' Alley at Anime Central 2010, and got this great shot. Looks like Johnny Cage lost the bout. I give the cosplayer credit for his willingness to carry around a skeleton mannequin for the whole con. He wasn't always in character, though, because he was a really nice guy to boot.
