Piccadilly Circus: 1978
This is a found slide in a white and blue plastic Agfacolor mount, it shows the night time scene in Piccadilly Circus looking north towards the London Pavilion from the southside outside the Criterion Theatre. The Burt Lancaster film, “Go tell the Spartans” is playing in the last week of June and first weeks of July 1978. The film was about American advisors in the early days of the Vietnam War. Across the road at the Criterion Theatre Leslie Phillips was appearing in a comedy by Michael Pertwee called “Six of One”. It is the first time I have noticed the sex shops in Coventry Street leading to Leicester Square.
