Hyde Park Corner

This is a Leon & Levy postcard printed in France showing Hyde Park Corner looking north east towards Apsley House. The sandwich board man walking in the gutter outside St. George’s Hospital is advertising “Sara” who apparently read palms and the Royal Blue horse drawn bus is advertising the Eugene Brieux play, “False Gods” at His Majesty's Theatre starring the famous Shakespearian actor Sir. Herbert Beerbohm Tree and Mrs. Patrick Campbell. The play started its run on 14th September 1909 and ended on 6th November. The Royal Blue bus ran from Victoria Station to Oxford Circus via Grosvenor Place, Piccadilly, Bond Street and Oxford Street, the operator of the bus is still a mystery to me, there was a Royal Blue Company which ran motor buses to the south coast from London, but I don’t think it was the same company.
